Our story needs to be told and it will - the question is, how good is it? All of us can honestly say there are parts of our story that we want to improve on – things we can change – so others can see God’s greater story in us and be drawn to it.
The question is are we ready to accept the call of Christ to truly follow Him?
What would happen if we stopped being a Fair-weather Fan of Jesus and followed Him even when life wasn’t very good? What would happened if we were more than a Casual Fan who decided talking about Jesus and the Kingdom of God was more important than being accepted by certain small groups of people?
What if we were focused on our faithfulness instead of being distracted? My guess is we’d be able to not only tell a better story, people would be drawn to Christ.
I challenge you to use the first 22 days of this New Year to experience 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
We can begin the year with a clean slate.
Knowing this time of year was meant to be a time of great joy, but is often times used by the enemy to discourage, I want to try and recapture some of the joy by looking at Christmas as a story.
How can we, as CPCC, be confident that the ripple effect we begin will be a positive, life-transforming one in this place and in this time?
Bob Miller and Jared Cowgur will explore this question from the Bible Book of Acts. We will outline four rocks, four faithful actions, with which the church can positively impact the world.
Today we launch a new message series entitled, A Test of Faith that I hope will give us the necessary tools to examine our faith and see how well it aligns with the faith God wants us to have.
Today I am starting a series of messages entitled, Changed Lives. At the core of this series is the idea that as followers of Christ we have been changed and need to change in order to become more like Christ.
Freedom is a gift given to us by God and something we must celebrate and stand firm in. If we do not remember and celebrate this freedom we have been given in Christ, we can easily fall back into our old way of life.
I hope and pray you will celebrate the freedom we have in this great nation tomorrow, but I hope you will also celebrate the perfect freedom we have been given by God through Jesus Christ.
God needs righteous men to lead their families toward righteousness.
There are famous models who are moms and then there are moms who are famous models of Christ and that’s what we celebrate on Mother’s Day.
Jesus forgives our past, gives us life to the fullest in the present and has a great place waiting for us in the future; all of this is possible because Jesus died and came back to life.
This is a series of messages entitled, The Easter Story in 8 Simple Words. It’s a series that will take us right up to Easter Sunday and our celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. My goal with this series is to give you 8 words that will serve as the anchors for sharing the message of Easter with friends and family who have yet to either hear it or really understand it.
For us to really love someone we must focus on our relationship with the World’s Greatest Lover.
Here is the over arching goal of 2 For the Road Ahead – that everyone associated with CPCC will find at least 2 areas of ministry/service they are willing to serve in that will help us accomplish our mission and goals.
Last year we laid a solid foundation upon which we can more effectively make disciples of Jesus in 2011 and beyond.
There is a mission attached to Christmas – a mission of redemption. The most important gift you can give to yourself this Christmas is to accept the gift of grace that God has given to you through Jesus – to decorate your heart.
If you have never fully committed your life to Christ, I want to invite you to seriously consider doing so this Christmas season. Realizing that Jesus is the one you’ve been waiting for all your life will give new meaning and purpose to everything you do.
When we express out thanks to God for sending Jesus Christ to this Earth to save us from sins it will open windows and doors to God like nothing else can and we will never feel separated from God.
This is a container for all the CPCC messages that do not have a specific series attached to them.
You will find a full collection of messages with a wide range of biblical topics to enjoy.
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. - Psalm 118:24
Grand Opening service and dedication for October 24th, 2010 at the Center for Community.
The construction is complete, the building has just begun.
I am excited about what’s NEXT. I am also convinced we must prepare for what’s NEXT and so I hope you will join us the next three weeks as we prepare for the greatest transition in the life of our church.
In order to be real followers of Christ we need to go beyond where we are now.
Philip’s life presents a challenge to the 21st century church.
Scripture Reference: Acts 8:26-40
A couple of months ago I preached a series of messages called Filling the Hole in which I tried to help us realize how we need to help meet the physical needs of the poor. I used Richard Stearns book, The Hole in Our Gospel as a reference to help us see the current needs that are all around us and we also heard stories from our own members about what they were already doing to help meet the physical needs.
I began the year by suggesting we needed to be a both/and church and not an either/or church – meaning we do our best to address both the physical and the spiritual needs of people and not choose one over the other. I really do think while we still have a ways to go, we are making progress when it comes to meeting the physical needs or social side of the equation. Now I want to move to the other side of the both/and equation and look closely at the spiritual holes that exist in so many people’s lives.
Memorial Day is one of those holidays that I think we forget why it was established and often times only view it as the kick off to summer. Memorial Day used to be called, Decoration Day. After the Civil War people went to the graves of the men and women who had died in the armed services and left flowers, flags or both to remember what they did for our country.
The memorial I want to look at this morning is much simpler than those and has been around a lot longer. This memorial was established the night before Jesus was killed. It is a meal of remembrance that is referred to as the Lord’s Supper or communion.
In many ways the church, is like a crew of construction workers working to build a physical structure. I have to say I am excited about what I see happening within this church body as people are discovering the role God wants them to play. More and more people are engaging in ministry and being the church as we work to fill the spiritual and physical needs of the people around us. I am also encouraged by the way people are plugging into our Growing Together Campaign.
Today we want to honor moms by looking at the most important thing moms give to their children.
If you think about it, moms give more to us than we can imagine – first and foremost they gave us life. And for many of us it was our mothers who gave us our sense of security, our good looks, our sense of humor, our first understanding of compassion and grace. Without doubt the list goes on and on, but there is one thing I want to point to this morning as THE most important thing a mom gives to her children – and that is her faith.
– comes from the idea that I hope Colonial Point Christian Church will be a both/and church and be concerned about not only a person’s salvation, but meeting the physical needs of the poor as well.
The first step I feel we need to take to make that possible is to make sure we have a clear picture of what the Bible has to say about the poor. And if I may, let me summarize it in two words – a lot
I want each of us to prepare ourselves for not just our last planned celebration in TEMS, but for a time that will restore our hope, energize our faith and move us to where we want to share the experience with as many people as possible. I want us to think a lot about the Easter Story.
Ground breaking Sunday, Celebrate 10 - Anticipate 100
A new series of messages about temptation and avoiding seduction.
It’s not going to be your typical series where I identify certain temptations and give you three strategies for victory, what we’re going to do is look at the book of Revelation and learn how we can avoid being seduced by this world and the one who currently controls it.
Vision for our church for the New Year.
The leadership and I sense God calling this church to not just talk about grace and truth, but to be a church of grace and truth.
